Women In Horror Annual was the product of creative ingenuity and pure instinct. Rachel Katz and Christine Makepeace, established writers along with impressive, past publishing experience joined forces to piece together works by women from all walks of life with fiction and non-fictional tales to tell in the genre. This project is not the Rachel & Christine showcase, but another opportunity for women horror writers to be recognized, celebrated, and rewarded.
On a personal note, it has been my work with Christine that was a big milestone in my confidence as a writer. While far from perfect or even great, she relied on insight to see that my vision was something special. We collaborated on making a piece I wrote on The Exorcist delightfully passable. Seeing my essay on a cover in print as something I could physically pass along to interested bodies was an affirming feeling.
Women In Horror Annual is only an evolved continuation of these efforts for other writers on the wide spectrum of professional acheivements. More importantly, it's about the passion for expression that everyone involved has for horror and wanting to truly uphold the principles of diversity and inclusiveness.
